The "Logotype" or "Primary Logo" is the text-dependent, standard logo we use for the majority of our Brand applications here at Whitefield Baptist Church. It combines the "Logomark," the church name "Whitefield," and two descriptive words "Baptist Church" as subscript. The individual elements comprised in this lock-up are not severable and should not be altered in any way. When this lock-up is used in small applications which exceed a particular processes ability to render the subscript in a legible way, it should be omitted (not resized).
While there may be other "logos" in our brand, when we use the word "logo" (alone) to describe a graphic element of our brand, we are referring to this specific lock-up. It is available in three primary colorways as shown below. This logotype should not be combined with other graphic elements/text.. Sufficient "whitespace" should be provided around the logotype, whenever it is used, to prevent crowding and brand confusion. The visual "center" of this logo is found on the vertical faces of the right side of the letter "f" in the name "Whitefield" and should be used as the centerline of the logo whenever alignment is necessary.
This logotype builds upon a history of using the font "Walkway Black" to render our church name in graphic design. The current version is an altered version of that font in which the base of each letter is cut-off. This is intentional and symbolic of the ministry focus of Whitefield Baptist Church. Our name "Whitefield" comes from John 4:35b where Jesus calls his disciples to "look" and "see" that the fields are white for harvest. This statement is symbolic of the world's need (and readiness) to hear the good news of the Gospel. By dropping the word "Whitefield" below a visually-implied baseline, we hope to invoke the imagery of standing knee-deep in a field ready for harvest. As a church, we aim to always be out in the fields with our heads up and eyes focused on the opportunities for sharing the Gospel which lie before us.
"...Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest."
The primary background/field color for our Brand Style is always going to be predominantly white. This means that the color version of our logo is to be used in the majority of applications.
When the logo is used on a dark background, the white gradient version should be used. Because of its ability to convey the intended symbolism (see mark description above), this version is preferred whenever possible over the monochrome version provided below.
When the logo is used on a dark background, and the print process does not allow for translucency, the monochrome white version may be used as a substitution for the white gradient version above.
