The "Logomark" or "Mark" is the symbolic graphic icon representing the ministry of Whitefield Baptist Church. It contains no text and is intended to be recognizable as a "standalone" graphic design element.
The Harvest Symbol is the primary mark for the Whitefield Baptist Church Brand. It is available in three primary colorways as shown below. The mark should not be combined with other graphic elements/text other than those utilized in the logos provided for on this page. Sufficient "whitespace" should be provided around the mark, whenever it is used, to prevent crowding and brand confusion. Finally, when used in isolation, the preferred alignment should result in the icon being centered within the overall composition.
The mark carries several degrees of symbolism designed to reflect the primary focus of the ministry of Whitefield Baptist Church. Overall, the mark evokes the idea of an organic plant-style form intended to be generic enough to avoid any direct association with an actual plant. The individual component shapes are symbolic of "leaves" or "petals," and the spaces between imply the presence of "stems". Our name "Whitefield" comes from John 4:35b where Jesus calls his disciples to "look" and "see" that the fields are white for harvest. This statement is symbolic of the world's need (and readiness) to hear the good news of the Gospel. Likewise, the "Harvest Symbol" is symbolic of our church's response to that call.
"...Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest."
On the left, the "petals" are in color, overlapping as they rise from bottom to top. As they rise, the color of each individual petal grows lighter. This is symbolic of our efforts in making Disciples of Christ. Through discipleship, we grow in "sanctification" (which means, we seek to become more and more holy as we strive to conform to the example of Jesus Christ). The overlapping of each petal implies that we -as a body of believers- do this together. We help each other, encourage each other, pray for each other, love each other.
In the middle is the "stem". This symbolizes the fact that "as we grow, we go". The world needs to hear the good news of the Kingdom of God. They need to hear that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. That message is the life-giving support and nourishment that we need to grow and that others need in order to be saved.
On the right, we have "petals" that are gray and disconnected. This represents the world in its current state of spiritual "deadness". The mission field that we find locally, regionally, and globally. The spaces between each "petal" represent the inroads we make as we go out into the harvest.
The entire mark is always located to the right side of any text and leans deliberately outward. This serves as our reminder that we should always be growing up (Loving God) and going out (Loving Others).
The primary background/field color for our Brand Style is always going to be predominantly white. This means that the color version of our mark is the primary icon to be used in the majority of applications.
When the mark is used on a dark background, the white gradient version of the white icon should be used. Because of its ability to convey the intended symbolism (see description above), this version is preferred whenever possible over the monochrome version provided below.
When the mark is used on a dark background, and the print process does not allow for translucency, the monochrome white version may be used as a substitution for the white gradient version above.
